The origins of the village of Tetín date back to the 10th century. It is known for its above-average number of churches and the stay of Princess Ludmila. The surrounding nature and views of Berounka.
The area of Tetín was already inhabited in the Paleolithic era. This village received its name many years later, more precisely in the 10th century. At this time, Princess Ludmila, the wife of Prince Bořivoj, also lived here. Unfortunately, her stay in Tetín ended unhappily, as she was strangled here in 921. A great attraction of Tetín, thanks to which it was and still is sought after by many pilgrims, are three churches in the centre of an otherwise rather small village.
Tetín is unusual in that it offers a little of everything in a small area. For pilgrims there are churches, for historians the Tetín Museum and the ruins of the castle. Nature lovers will appreciate the lookouts, the waterfalls Tetínský vodopád and the Berounka River itself. There are even caravan parks built on the outskirts of the village and cyclists can ride the St. Ludmila trail through the village.
There is plenty to choose from in the surroundings of Tetín! The caves Koněpruské jeskyně are nearby, and you can also get to Karlštejn or Beroun. If you want to tick off two pilgrimage sites in one day, go to nearby Svatý Jan pod Skalou.
