Discover the beautifully restored site where history blends with modern brewing practices. The tour starts at the original well and guides you through the Renaissance heart of the brewery.
Lobeč Brewery, at the heart of Kokořínsko’s historical heritage, offers an unforgettable experience that fuses the charm of the past with modern brewing artistry. Join us to uncover the secrets of the steam-powered brewery, guided by the owner and architect himself. Discover the stories behind the renovation and immerse yourself in a history that comes alive with every sip of expertly crafted beer.
One of the highlights is the tour led by owner and architect Pavel Prouza, who shares captivating stories about the brewery’s challenging reconstruction and its historical significance. You’ll get a glimpse of beer production from centuries past and visit the former brewmaster’s office on the upper floor. The malt floor features a permanent exhibition celebrating the golden age of Czech brewing in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known for its famous dark specialties.
The tour concludes in the cool cellars, where you’ll see the modern craft operation with its new brewing system and lager cellars. Here, enjoy a freshly tapped beer that embodies both history and contemporary brewing mastery.
In 2007, the Prouza couple unexpectedly discovered the dilapidated brewery during a trip to Kokořínsko and fell in love with it. After years of dedicated restoration—including building renovations and the revitalization of historical technologies—the brewery was revived in 2015, earning the prestigious Patrimonium pro futuro heritage award.
Experience a stylish stay at Lobeč Brewery and enjoy the charm of the countryside. The brewery offers spacious attic apartments that provide a cozy cottage feel. The Cicvárek apartment features steam age elements, while the Tománek, Rosenberg, and Keller apartments, named after former brewers, offer a rustic ambiance. Together, they accommodate up to 28 guests.
Near the brewery, visit the Eduard Štorch Museum to discover the life and works of the author of the famous novel Mammoth Hunters. Thanks to its innovative Living Museum concept, you can explore the museum year-round without needing staff on-site. If you’re up for more, take in the stunning views from the nearby lookout tower on Vrátenská Mountain.
