Discover the fun of knowledge at the Water House in Hulice, where you can explore water with all your senses and learn about its protection, inhabitants, and the structures that manage it.
The Water House offers something for everyone, both adults and children. Here, knowledge and play come together beautifully, ensuring you’ll leave with memorable experiences and fascinating observations. The gates are open from March to October.
The modern exhibition guides you through five sections, introducing you to water microorganisms that are invisible to the naked eye. You’ll explore large models and macro photographs, and even have the chance to look through a microscope. There’s a dedicated area for aquatic plants, animals, and wetland life, accompanied by the soothing sounds of flowing water and the calls of birds, frogs, and other creatures from the nearby Želivka River.
In the section titled ‘The Endless Journey of Water,’ you can relax at a water bar and discover the unique tastes of different waters. The exhibition also takes you to the submerged depths of the Švihov reservoir, including the now-flooded Dolní Kralovice.
Your playful spirit will come alive in the water atrium, where you can journey through a river from its source to its mouth. You’ll control the water channel using pumps, waterwheels, dams, and distributors. Be prepared to get a bit wet, so bring your swimsuit (or a change of clothes) and a towel!
While you’re in Hulice, don’t miss the Bee World, an interactive museum that playfully introduces you to the life of bee colonies. Just an 8-minute drive away is Zruč nad Sázavou, where you can continue your exploration at the Water Sports Museum and learn about the history of the Želivka River. Alternatively, take the kids to the castle, where they can enjoy a toy exhibition titled ‘The World of Blocks and Dolls.’
