The Nehvizdy Zoo, which opened in the spring of 2023, has greatly expanded in its first year and has become a beloved destination for families with children as well as animal enthusiasts.
Located just a short drive from Prague, between Čelákovice and Úvaly, Nehvizdy Zoopark was founded on the original breeding facility created by Jiří Glatt.
Since its opening, the zoo’s collection has expanded from 110 to 140 animal species in just one year, with more to come! The main concept of the zoo is a contact experience, allowing visitors to meet, pet, and even feed some of the animals.
Throughout the year, the zoo offers a variety of events, including hands-on programs, guided feedings, and expert-led tours. There are also regular lectures and excursions for schools, kindergartens, and community groups. Kids can have fun on a small playground with trampolines and climbing structures, while parents relax at the snack stand.
Alongside a diverse range of birds, you’ll also find lemurs, tamarins, adorable Göttingen minipigs, giant kangaroos, Capuchin sheep, and capybaras.
Discover the scenic Pojizeří and Polabí regions, starting at the Polab Ethnographic Museum in Přerov nad Labem, one of Europe’s oldest open-air museums. The charming cottages here have a fairy-tale quality. Next, head to Milovice to visit Mirakulum, the largest family amusement park in the Czech Republic. Spanning 12 hectares, it features underground tunnels, slides, mazes, and animal encounters. Be sure to check out the Labyrintharium at Loučeň Castle and Zoo Chleby!
