Kingdom Come: Deliverance II – where the story comes to life

3. 4. 2025

In early February, the highly anticipated Kingdom Come: Deliverance II was released. While Henry's journey in the first game led him through the Sázava region, with the Sázava Monastery and Rataje nad Sázavou as key locations, the sequel takes both him—and you—to Trosecko and the Kutná Hora region. Step into a world where your choices shape the fate of the hero and experience the story firsthand.

Whether it’s a gloomy day perfect for immersing yourself in the gripping story of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II or a sunny one calling you to explore real historical sites, we have tips for unforgettable adventures in Central Bohemia.

Off to Kutná Hora!

Whether you’ve already raced through Kingdom Come: Deliverance II or want to enhance your gaming experience with a visit to the real-world locations where history comes to life, Kutná Hora is calling! Stroll through its historic streets, steeped in centuries of stories, and immerse yourself in the unique atmosphere of this remarkable city—celebrating 30 years on the UNESCO World Heritage List this year.

Kutná Hora was the financial heart of the medieval Czech Kingdom, home to the minting of the Prague groschen—one of the most important coins of its time. Known for their exceptional quality, these coins were so widely used that they circulated throughout Central Europe.

Kutná Hora Parish and St. Barbara’s Cathedral

In the hero’s journey, this Gothic landmark of the royal city is still under construction, but even outside the gates of Kutná Hora, it hints at its future grandeur. As the name suggests, the cathedral is dedicated to Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners, whose efforts made its construction possible.

Today, the cathedral is open year-round, offering visitors a collection of rare Gothic frescoes, historic ceramic details, and stunning stained glass windows, with the colorful play of light creating a magical atmosphere. The tour also includes a gallery with the organ, and by prior arrangement, you can climb to the roof gallery for a breathtaking view of the city and surrounding landscape.

The Italian Court and the Mint of the Czech Monarchs

The Italian Court plays a key role not only in the game but also in the history of Kutná Hora. This significant building, once the royal mint and residence of the Czech kings, was the center of Prague groschen coin production. In the game, Henry finds himself at the Italian Court, uncovering intrigues linked to silver theft and political scheming that could shake the entire Czech kingdom. Immerse yourself in the story of the coin that shaped the history of the Czech lands.

Every day, from Monday to Sunday, you can try your hand at the challenging work of a mint master, take an interactive tour of the Royal Mint, or visit the film rooms, where you’ll encounter kings like Václav II., Václav IV., Sigismund, and Vladislav Jagellon, as well as the city’s representative spaces.

Czech Silver Museum and an Underground Adventure

Originally a wooden fortress from the 14th century, it was built to protect the growing mining settlement and later became the home of prominent mining families, including the Ruthards. In the game, you’ll encounter nobleman Kunzlin Ruthard and his brave daughter Rosa. Tensions in the city rise due to Ruthard’s hostile attitude toward the Kutná Hora nobility and King Sigismund, leading to inevitable conflict.

Today, the Czech Silver Museum is one of the oldest in the Czech Republic, preserving treasures from the past—ranging from ancient mining tools to rare Prague groschen. It also offers an in-depth look at the medieval mining process, silver refining, and minting technology. To enhance the experience, you can explore a 250-meter section of the original medieval mine, dressed in a helmet with a lantern and a mining smock with a hood, known as a perkytl.

The Ossuary and Cathedral in Sedlec

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II takes you to the Sedlec Ossuary, home to tens of thousands of human remains. In the 19th century, the iconic bone pyramids and ornaments were created by master carver František Rint, whose work gave the site its unique character. His creations serve as a powerful reminder of life’s fleeting nature, embodying the ossuary’s motto—memento mori. In the game, Henry even gets a chance to try his hand at crafting these fascinating bone decorations as part of a quest.

The Sedlec Ossuary is open every day, as is the nearby Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. John the Baptist, a masterpiece by Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel. Its timeless Baroque-Gothic architecture continues to impress visitors to this day.

Other Kingdom Come: Deliverance II Locations in Kutná Hora

Kutná Hora offers many other fascinating places, some more or less known from the game but equally important for their historical value. As you stroll through the city, you’ll encounter familiar locations, such as the Stone Fountain or the Plague Column near Palackého Square, where merchant markets were held in the game.

The oldest preserved sacred building in the city is St. James’ Church. With its tall tower, you definitely won’t miss it—on the contrary, it serves as a reliable landmark, just as it did on medieval maps. On the site of a medieval jousting arena and baths, once frequented not only by the Kutná Hora nobility but also by Henry, you’ll now find the cozy Turistka café. Here, you can enjoy a delicious coffee and a tasty treat.

After wandering through the streets of Kutná Hora, you’re sure to work up an appetite. Stop by Restaurace Dačický or V Ruthardce, both of which immerse you in a medieval atmosphere, not only through their interiors but also with their offering of period dishes. Whether with a golden drink, roasted tea, or homemade lemonade, we raise a glass to your health and the many more tourist experiences still awaiting you!

A Trip to Paradise – Beyond Central Bohemia

The adventure in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II takes you beyond Kutná Hora to the Bohemian Paradise, where the first half of the game unfolds. The standout feature of this region is the ruins of Trosky Castle, which looms over the landscape like the legendary gateway to hell. We recommend visiting on a sunny day, and be sure to check the castle’s opening hours, as it isn’t open year-round.

The area around Trosky plays a key role in the story. The Podsemínský Mill is linked to miller Krejzl in the game, where Henry learns lockpicking and combat skills. In real life, the building still stands, though it now serves recreational purposes. In Želejov, you’ll find a wayside cross that also appears in the game. If you need a break, stop at the pub in Troskovice, which offers one of the best views of the castle. For this trip, comfortable shoes and a snack are essential—Bohemian Paradise is stunning, but the terrain can catch you off guard!

When planning your route, keep in mind that the Apolena Nature Reserve near Trosky Castle is closed to protect rare plant and animal species. So, you'll only be able to explore it in the game. However, the natural beauty of the Bohemian Paradise is around every corner. We recommend following the Golden Trail, a red-marked hiking route that connects the region’s most notable spots. The full trail is 119 km long. With limited public transport in the area, walking the trail is the best way to truly experience the stunning landscapes of the Bohemian Paradise.
