Want to clear your mind in nature while staying close to civilization? Head to the Czech Karst! This loop trail from Beroun station showcases the best of this protected area, perfect for a trip from Prague.
Start your full-day trip from Prague at Beroun station. From there, follow the blue trail—Pilgrimage Route Říp to Blaník—leading you to Tetín. Along the way, take in the breathtaking views of the forested hills of the Karlštejn Highlands, the nearby Křivoklát region, and the town of Beroun.
The pilgrimage site of Tetín, with its history dating back to the 9th century, enchants visitors with its serene atmosphere. As you sit on a bench by St. John Nepomuk Church, overlooking the deep Berounka valley, you’ll experience a calming peace amidst the surrounding activity.
The Tetín Lookout educational trail guides you to the ruins of Tetín Castle, where you can enjoy an iconic view of the river, the island, and the striking Alkazar quarry rocks in the background.
From Tetín, follow the blue trail through the Koda national nature reserve to the picturesque Kodská vyvěračka spring, complete with a chapel and pond—a lovely spot worth a short detour. Next, take the yellow trail to the Koněprusy Caves.
Before returning to Beroun, visit Zlatý Kůň hill via an educational trail for panoramic views of the Czech Karst, Brdy Hills, and Křivoklát Highlands. Continuing on the yellow trail, you’ll reach Axamit’s Gate, the largest rock bridge in the Czech Karst. Eventually, the green trail will lead you back to Beroun, where you can resist the temptation to swim in the hidden Suchomasty reservoir, or opt for a splash at the nearby Aquapark.
