Bike Trips
Take a pleasant 20-kilometre trip from Sedlčany to Monínec – a site full of fun for young and old in all seasons.
A part of the route will follow the new Krčín Cycle Path, named after the builder of ponds in the Sedlčany region and southern Bohemia. The asphalt path is wide enough to allow safe traffic in both directions. There are many attractive things to see along the path, so you won’t be bored.
We recommend starting in Sedlčany, where you can get in the mood for a trip in the local City Museum. The exhibition will guide you through the history of the city from prehistoric times to modern history, and there are also references to the renowned pond-builder Jakub Krčín, whose name is also part of the cycle path you will ride on.
From here, you will set off along the route bordered by the calm waters of the Sedlecký potok stream. Plan your first stop at the Sedlčany retention pond or a few kilometres further at the Dlouhý rybník pond – great places for a short rest. Approximately halfway through the route, you will arrive at the mill Strnadovský mlýn. This stylishly renovated farmhouse offers not only excellent cuisine made from local ingredients, but also the atmosphere of the old countryside. An ideal place for lunch and to recharge your batteries – you will also find a small bike repair shop here.
The journey continues to Sedlec-Prčice, a town known for the Prague-Prčice march. On the square, you will be attracted by the Prčice Worn-out Shoe Monument, dedicated to this famous march. If you feel like stopping for a moment, go to the château park or the Vítkovec Family Museum. And because sports performance also deserves a reward, we recommend tasting beer from the local Vítek z Prčice brewery – a traditional Czech lager with a unique character.
The last section will take you to the Monínec area, which is not only a winter resort, but also a summer oasis for cyclists, families and adventurers. Try the local bike park, rope centre or just cool off at the natural swimming pool. Indulge in views of the landscape, home-made cuisine and a selection of local beers at the M2 Restaurant.
