Bike Trips
The challenging route with a high altitude leads through the former military area in Brdy, past the bunkers and to the highest peak of Central Bohemia - Tok.
Visit a wild landscape resembling the Scottish moors. The Brdy Protected Landscape Area was formerly a closed military area, today the landscape is open to tourists and offers many asphalt and off-road paths.
Start in Hořovice at the train station, where trains arrive from Prague and Pilsen, or in Jince at a stop of a special Brdy bike train that operates at weekends and public holidays during the season. The beginning of the route is full of climbs. About halfway there, stop at the ruins of Valdek Castle built by the family of Zajíc of Valdek, who also built the nearby Žebrák Castle.
On the route you will not miss the area of the former military airfield under Hejlák and the Jordán and Tok impact areas, both with a nature trail. Make a stop at the infantry cabin CE Jordán, known locally as “Benešák”. Around the other two bunkers, climb to the top of Houpák hill: the view of the landscape from here is breathtaking!
Join the red hiking trail and follow the off-road route to the highest peak of Central Bohemia – Tok. From here, you will descend across Carvánka to the green hiking trail. The steepest and most dangerous descent will be down the Iron Way from Dlouhý vrch. When you get past Jindřichova skála out of the Brdy Protected Landscape Area back to Hořovice, treat yourself to a gastronomic experience in one of the restaurants there, such as Na Krétě or PODNIKK, or have something sweet in the café Dobrá adresa.
