The open-air museum in Vysoký Chlumec, a branch of the Mining Museum Příbram, showcases residential, economic, technical, and religious structures, providing valuable examples of rural architecture from the mid-17th to the early 20th century. Interior exhibits offer insights into village living and farming practices.
The region boasts a remarkable collection of folk architecture. To safeguard these treasures from potential loss, they’ve been relocated to the serene surroundings of Vysoký Chlumec. Explore two routes—one self-guided, the other with a guide—for a glimpse into otherwise restricted areas, including a mill, sawmill, and residential buildings.
You’ll explore various interiors showcasing black kitchens, painted furniture, and shoemaker workshops. Highlights include a water mill demonstration and exhibits on harnesses and wicker baskets.
The Open-Air Museum in Vysoký Chlumec is part of the Mining Museum in Příbram. Besides the main museum in Březové Hory, it oversees the Vojna Lešetice Memorial, the only preserved communist camp in the country.
