Adrenaline and fun or where to go for endorphins?

Water fun all year round? Why not. In Aquapalace, the largest waterpark in our country, you can enjoy a sea of experiences and adventures in three Water World palaces, regardless of the temperature outside. It is open daily until 10 p.m.

For adventure and adrenaline, head to TEPfactor in Chotilsko near the Slapy Dam. It also boasts one best feature: it is the largest amusement park in Bohemia. Invite your friends, the fun and games mainly focus on teamwork.

Get to know traditions in an unconventional way

When else to get to know the tradition of Czech glass-making than right now? If you are interested in the path that an ordinary grain of sand has to travel before it transforms into a fragile web, visit the Glass Art Centre in the František Glassworks in Sázava. The glass-maker’s fire is usually lit here during special events, and you can see the inspiring exhibition in the authentic environment of the historical complex from Wednesday to Saturday all year round.

From Wednesday to Saturday, you can also visit the Rückl glassworks in Nižbor in the picturesque Berounka River valley after making a reservation. There are guided tours where you can learn all about the individual stages and traditional glass-making techniques. The glass factory was founded here in 1846 and has since then been taking traditional Czech glass-making to a new level. Find out for yourself!

Do you want to explore the tradition of Czech beer brewing in a different way than just at the table with a beer in your hand? Make an appointment for Saturday at the Černý Kostelec Brewery, where the National Brewery Museum is being built on an area of 4,000 m², and still growing, in the authentic premises of the historic malt house. It primarily presents the brewing technologies of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and will becomes the museum with the largest functional direct wood-fired brewery in the world.

Central Bohemian personalities: meet them

Our history was written by famous personalities. From Wednesday to Sunday, you can learn more about Josef Lada in the Josef Lada Memorial in Hrusice, in the house that his family used for summer stays. The largest room in the exhibition is Lada’s study. One of the rooms is dedicated to customs and traditions.

Get to know the personality of Jan Palach in Všetaty, where the Jan Palach Memorial was created by converting the original village house of the Palach family. It includes a new exhibition showing the time and act of Jan Palach in the context of the events of the 20th century. It is open from Friday to Sunday.

Visit the T. G. Masaryk Museum in Lány. You will learn about his family, his professorship and presidency, World War I and the First Republic. You can explore his personality and the historical events of the time in peace from Tuesday to Sunday.

From Monday to Friday, visit his memorial in Strž near Stará Huť near Dobříš to see the personality and work of Karel Čapek. The exhibition also focuses on the life and work of Olga Scheinpflugová and Ferdinand Peroutka. Strž can enchant visitors at any time of the year, but it is perhaps the most beautiful when spring arrives.

The painter Václav Rabas is best known through his works. Take a look at them in his birthplace Rakovník in the local Rabas Gallery. His paintings show the unsuspected beauty and colour of the seemingly monotonous landscape, composed of fields and hop farms. You will be surprised. It is open daily except Mondays.

In Rakovník, go for a coffee at Galerie Samson Cafeé. Its premises often host exhibitions of mainly regional artists. It is open from Monday to Friday.

Museums tell the story of local history…  

Explore the local history in detail, you will discover gems! You can start from Tuesday to Saturday at the Bedřich Hrozný Museum in Lysá nad Labem. Its new permanent exhibition, housed in a Baroque listed house, introduces important stages of the town’s rich history. A permanent archaeological exhibition is now open in the Museum of Brandýs nad Labem after a partial reconstruction and two archaeological exhibitions are regularly held here. It is open from Wednesday to Sunday. The Podbrdské Museum in Rožmitál pod Třemšínem can be explored each day except Monday. In the former mill, the exhibitions will tell you everything about the lords from Rožmitál and the local personality Jan Jakub Ryba. The museum also presents the most comprehensive collection of 32 historic cars of the Aero car company.

You can not only learn about the Battle of Lipany at the Podlipanské Museum in Český Brod, housed in a remarkable Art Nouveau building in the historic villa district. You can go on the trip from Monday to Friday. You can learn all about Celtic history in the Nové Strašecí region from Tuesday to Saturday at the Nové Strašecí Museum. Among the exhibits, a famous find stands out – the Celt head.

Jílové u Prahy is associated with gold mining and processing, which is why the local regional museum specialises in gold in the Czech Republic. It can also be visited during this period from Tuesday to Sunday. When you say Roztoky u Prahy, summer apartments come to mind. You can learn more about them during a tour of the local château, which houses the Central Bohemian Museum in Roztoky u Prahy. Still not enough?

Curiosity knows no limits. Did you know that on weekends you can also visit the Museum of Technical Toys in Central Bohemia? It is based in Velvary and introduces the basic types of mechanical sheet metal toys, powered by a key-operated clockwork, steam engine or electric motor. In addition, it introduces the production of railway toys by lesser-known Czechoslovak companies.

More serious themes pervade the Monument to National Oppression and Resistance in Panenské Břežany. The Crime and Punishment exhibition introduces one of the most horrific periods of Czech history and the events that preceded the collapse of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The memorial is located on the first floor of the local Baroque château.

Do you want to get to know the Bohemian Karst, but you are not tempted to go on a nature trip? There is never enough theoretical information! Visit the Museum of the Bohemian Karst in Beroun, located in one of the most architecturally valuable houses on Hus Square (Husovo náměstí). As a bonus, you will also be introduced to the history of Beroun itself and its important personalities. It is open daily except Mondays.

The Sázava Monastery invites you to a new sightseeing tour through the pilgrimage site all year round. In the St. Procopius area with a guide from Wednesday to Sunday, you will see, among other things, the new organ and the newly restored crypt with the relics of St. Procopius, the patron saint of the Czech land. The pilgrimage site of Stará Boleslav also has a spiritual touch. Guided tours are still held there every day except Mondays. You will see the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Church of St. Wenceslas and the Chapel of Blessed Podiven and the Stará Boleslav Gate. The basilica is the home shrine of the Palladium of the Czech Lands and stands on the site where the Palladium was excavated in the mid-12th century and where, according to legend, the first miracles associated with the Marian icon took place.
